This is a good place to go for a good and quick meal. The food is not fancy in any way but good well tasting and a take on the traditional American sports bar menu. The television is playing nineties mtv music videos instead of sports. The prices are reasonable and the sizes are good.
a nice spot if you are trying to get away from all the fine dining located in reykjavik
basically a no fuss grill/bbq spot with bar foods, the burgers looked really good, and the fish and chips as well
we opted for the lamb skewer and the bbq ribs, while neither are cheap, they are not expensive by iceland standards either - we paid about $80 for a few soft drinks and the two entrees
the food took awhile to come (20 - 25 mins maybe?) but i will give them the benefit of the doubt, as it was super busy since not many restaurants are open on new years day
the bbq ribs platter came with corn, salad, coleslaw, 3 mini racks of ribs and fries, which i swapped for onion rings
the bbq sauce was good, and i felt that the portion size was huge and was a major value
lamb skewer was really well done and worth every penny. it came with salad and potatoes but could be exchanged for other sides if wanted
my fiancée kept raving about the flavor and cook of the lamb, so i would definitely recommend one try that if visiting grillhúsið
overall its a nice spot, and i thought both the hostess and the waiter we had were really fun and laid back
This cozy grill house was a great Reykjavík experience. Food was plentiful and tasty.
Lots of MEAT and awesome veggies.
The staff was so friendly, warm and welcoming. There was always someone to hand us extra drinks or anything else we needed. Prices are reasonable and the sizes are huge. We ate the chicken skewer and beef stake. Highly recommended!
Americans go here! I mean anyone can - but if you’re craving something familiar, nice, and delicious this is the place!
Lots of MEAT and awesome veggies without some of the crazy stuff you at other nice places in town.
not very welcoming waitress but bartender was nice & helpful. very filling steak but the baked potato was very bland which didn’t make it easy to enjoy. we regretted ordering extra.:( just one washroom so be prepared to queue when it’s a full house & you’re pressed haha.
We enjoyed a great lunch here. The server was excellent and took time to go over our choices. We had a fish dinner and a hamburger. Both excellent!
This is a very pleasant restaurant in the heart of Reykjavik. The menu was posted outside and was enough to convince us to give it a try. We had a late lunch and were not disappointed. The food was great and reasonably priced for the city. Our server was very friendly and helpful (offering to translate and explain anything we had questions about). I had the fish lunch special (Wed.) It came with complementary carrot soup which was outstanding. Don't miss the chocolate cake for dessert.
Tho photos aren’t the most flatter but let me assure you the food was very very very good.
The service however left much to be desired. I’ve been here twice in the past 2 weeks and somehow my request for balsamic vinegar for my salad led to quite an uproar. I’m not sure if the floor staff was having and off night but the lead woman was very rude and inconsiderate.
